Early in the 20th century, external trade between individual European nation states increased, particularly among Germany, Great Britain and Turkey. Due to its geostrategic position and its essential supply of raw materials for the German industry, Turkey was a key and strategic trading partner for Germany. Hence, concluded in October 1941, the first commodity trading and payment agreement secured the trade of more than 100,000 tons of chromite ore and military equipment and, thus, paved the way for a comprehensive trade partnership between the countries. Chromit-Erz develops this tradition with great conviction and invests in business ventures to continue the next chapter of this success story.

For more than a decade, Dr. Mahmut Kobal has been involved in the pragmatic solution of challenges in all areas of customs and foreign trade legislation. He carried out his doctoral research at Maastricht University under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hildegard Schneider in the field of the EU-Turkey Customs Union. Dr. Kobal lectures regularly at national and international universities, business associations, chambers of commerce and industry on customs and global trade topics. After several years of experience as Manager at one of the Big-Four accounting firms, Dr. Kobal is head of customs & global trade of an DAX-30-listed company.
